He was predeceased by: his father Carl Simonsen; his wife Sue Simonsen; his parents-in-law, Bev and Robert Turner; and his brothers-in-law, Greg Turner, Steve Gustafson and Robert Primeau.
He is survived by: his mother Elizabeth "Betty" Simonsen (Wolf) of Exira, Iowa; his son Scott (Kristie) of Sheldon; his granddaughters, Mikayla of Brookings and Keely Simonsen of Brookings; his sister Julie Christensen (Paul) of Brayton, Iowa; his sisters-in-law, Marcia Gustafson of Omaha and Karen Primeau of Reno, Nevada; and his nephews, Justin Christensen (Jill) of Rock Rapids, Jeremy Christensen (Amanda) of Des Moines, Kevin Turner (Jessica) of Omaha, Nebraska and Jason Turner (Leslie) of Omaha, Nebraska. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials would be made to Northwest Iowa Health Foundation (Sanford Sheldon) Sheldon Community Ambulance Team (SCAT) or Vista Prairie-Fieldcrest Facility.
