He was predeceased by: his parents, John G Roekel and Sarah Van Roekel (Te Grotenhuis); his brothers, Gershom (Edna), Warren (Lillian), Merle (Jo Ann) and Reverend James (Erma Jean); his great grandchild Makenzie Beth Van Roekel; and also, Albert, Helena Scheffer, Cornelius Scheffer (Margaret), Emma Brown (Esten) and Magdalena Schimmel (Arie).
He is survived by: his wife Florence Scheffer (Flossie); his sons, David (Arla) of George, IA, Dennis, Paul (Shirlea) of George and Philip (Laura) of Ankeny, IA; his grandchildren, Danielle Hrdlicka (Jeff), Alisson Meyer (Isaac), Aaron (Beth), Kollin, Clint J (Laura), Kyle (Kim), Caleb (Casey), Matthew, Benjamin (Elizabeth) and Jacob Van Roekel (Emily); his great grandchildren, Kylie Morris (Zach), Sawyer Hrdlicka (Sara), Kade, Conner, Cael, Grace, Jonathan, Anna Joy, Sylvia, Vivian and Harper Van Roekel; his great great grandchildren, Aceston, Landrick of Kylie and Zach Morris; and his brother Arlin Van Roekel (Alvina). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials directed to Hope Reformed Church in George or any charity of your choosing.
