He was predeceased by: his parents, Adrian Eugene Ries and Hazel Ries (Young); his parents-in-law, Thomas Robert Palmer and Mary Palmer (Mahlstadt); his siblings, Harlan Ries, Patricia Bankes, Tricia Kline, Violet Mayoral and Jeannie Ries; and his son Duane Eugene Ries.
He is survived by: his wife Linda D. Ries; his sons, Bill Ries (William Ross), Bob (Robert Eugene) and Chastity Ries (Hovenga); his grandchildren, MadisynAnn Ries (Tanner Sibert), Samantha Marvel Ries, Carson Ross Ries, Thomas Adrian Ries and Skilerand Katie; his siblings-in-law, Victor and Mary Palmer (Hagarty); his brother Bruce; and his sister-in-law Jerrianne Ries. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
