He was predeceased by: his parents, John Kew and Saddie Kew (Bobst); his wife Elaine Lembke; and his siblings, John, Frank, Marlo and Elizabeth.

He is survived by: his children, David Kew of Hampton, Barbara Alitz (Duane) of Albert Lea, Glenn Kew of Hampton and Jack Kew of Hampton; his grandchildren, Travis Alitz of Albert Lea and Amanda Alitz of Tennessee; and his sister Wanda Miller of Hampton. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
