He is survived by: his sons, Khamsiane Mekdara (Manivone) of Elgin, IL, Phiane Mekdara (Chanphen) of Des Moines, IA, Sisangviane Mekdara of Sergeant Bluff, IA and Sangvang Mekdara of Sergeant Bluff, IA; his sisters, Nam Boua Phan Chanthavong and Ka Mekdara; his nephew Seng Chanthavong (La); his niece Nouay Akanhay (Lamyai); and his grandchildren, Alysia, Elias, Isaac and Kal.
