He is survived by: his parents, Nicholas Ries and Charlotte Ries (Ely); his children, Susan Binford of Columbus, William Ries (Betty) of Newalla, Tom Ries (Lisa) of Rapid City, Laura Ries, Quentin Miles of Black Hawk and Daniel Ries (Marianne) of Shepherd; and his grandchildren, Nathan Chrestensen, Jeff Fisk, Nikki Fisk, Ryan Ries, Robert Fisk, Jennifer Durham, Rebecca Rudolph, Megan Wilson, Tom Shearer, William Ries Jr., David Shearer, Steven McCaulley Jr., Jessica Hubner, Brian Cripe, Shelby Ries, Jonathan Ries, Sarah Cripe and Bryan Ries.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Legion or VFW.
