He was predeceased by: his parents, James Newman and Maxine Newman (Schleis); his brother Jack W. Newman; and his son Tyler R. Newman. He is survived by: his former spouse Shirley Sherwood; his children, Matthew (Kelsie Jensen) of Sergeant Bluff and Ashlee Cookman (Drew); his siblings, James D. Newman (Patty) of San Diego, Jeffrey D. Newman (Veronica) of Sacramento, Jana S. Drew (Dave) of Lawton and Jolene M. Newman of Salix; and his grandchildren, Jack, Haleigh, Bennett Cookman, Harper and Elliot Newman. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
