She was predeceased by: her parents, Ben Pechota and Evelyn Pechota (Koudelka); her husband Kilian Bodensteiner; and her brothers, Charles Hadacek, Bob Cuvelier, Henry (Janet Bodensteiner) and Greg (Bernice Hauer).

She is survived by: her children, Barb Howe (Tommy) of Houston, TX, Lynnie Reicks (John), Mike (Laura), Kathy Jirak (Stan), Becky Eichenberger (Jeff), Randy, Julie Ungerer (Marty), Jack (Sherri) and Terri Arends; her sisters, Betty Hadacek of Protivin, IA, Jeanne Bohr (Jim) of Protivin, IA and Donna Dietzenbach (Loren); and her sister-in-law Dolores Cuvelier of Lawler, IA. She is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, a Memorial Mass and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests sending contributions in Elaine's memory to any of the following: St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas Historical Society, or the American Legion, Post 691.
