She was predeceased by: her daughter Melissa R. Schmitt; her parents, James Cortner and Rose A. Cortner (Wyckoff); her stepmother Frances Cortner (Weston); and her siblings, Joy L. Kinney and James H. Dueling.
She is survived by: her husband Lyle A. Schwery of St. Charles, Iowa.; her son Allan J. Schmitt (Emily) of Gilbertville, Iowa; her stepsons, Kevin M. Schwery (Bri) of Portland, Benjamin J. Schwery (Molly) of Lagrangeville and Josef G. Schwery (Krista) of Osceola, Iowa; her grandchildren, Avallon L. Schmitt, Eragon J. Schmitt and Carrick W. Schmitt; her stepgrandchildren, Aric O. Schwery (Ashley), Erin L. Schwery, Autumn M. Schwery, Tegan M. Schwery, Brayden L. Schwery, Chayden H. Schwery, Finnegan J. Schwery, Thomas O. Schwery, William G. Schwery, Samuel C. Schwery and Colin R. Schwery; her great grandchildren, Luke O. Schwery and Beau H. Schwery; and her siblings, J. Max Cortner (Shirley) and Dixie A. Hansen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She sold much of her work and often donated specialty pieces for many non-profit organizations to assist in fundraising.
