He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Julius Patterson and Lela Fern Alvis Patterson; his siblings, Kenneth Clifford Patterson and Fern McCasland; his brother-in-law Major McCasland; his nephews, Gerald Baker and Gary Sterling McCasland; his niece Mabel McCasland; his grandchildren, Sgt. Brandon Patterson and Nicole Patterson; and his son-in-law Eric Albrecht.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Patterson of Urbandale, IA; his children, Ken Patterson (Marge), Danny Patterson (Cindy) of Winterset, IA, Penny Patterson of Winterset, IA, Terri Hamilton (Tim) of Des Moines, IA, Lori Malek (Jamie) of Carlisle, IA, Vicki Albrecht (Juli) of St. Charles, IA and Juli Zimmerman of Houston, TX; and his sisters, Helen Stout, Shirley Givant of Winterset, IA and Julia Bruett of Winfield, IA.. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
