He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Austin and Carolyn Austin (Rockey). He is survived by: his children, Tana Krumm of Johnston, IA and Jared Austin (Melinda) of Windsor Heights, IA; and his siblings, Sandra Lundberg (Dean) of Iowa City, IA, Billy Austin (Robyn) of Saint Charles, IA, Debbie Richards (Marty) of Austin, Dana Austin (Melinda) of New Virginia, IA and Jeanne Brown (Wayne). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
