He was predeceased by: his parents, Grace Dohler (Shaffer) and Jerry Dohler; his former wife Barbara Jean McNutt; his daughters, Carmen (Groe) and Cassie Nelson; his son-in-law Eric Stenseth; and his brother-in-law Dick Biederman.

He is survived by: his wife Monika Sorenson; his daughters, Dawn of Fort Dodge, IA and Tracy (Stenseth) of Cedar Rapids, IA; his son-in-law Barry Groe of Charleston, WV; his stepson Doug Sorenson (Angie) of Mason City, IA; his grandchildren, Logan (Stenseth) of Minneapolis, MN, Kendall (Stenseth) of Clarksville, TN, Emma (Groe) of Charleston, WV, Zach (Groe) of Charleston, WV, Michael (Nelson), Taylor (Hedegard), Olivia (Sorenson) and Dylan (Nelson); his great grandchildren, McKade, Nash, Ryan and Remington; his sisters, Dona Biederman of Osage, IA, Una Bleess Gerdes (John) of Blue Earth, MN and Sandra Hulshizer (Marvin) of Georgetown; and his brothers-in-law, Robert McNutt (Sheri) of St. Ansgar, IA and David McNutt of St. Ansgar, IA..

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the St. Ansgar United Methodist Church (510 W 4th St, St Ansgar, IA 50472).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Ansgar Rescue Squad or the United Methodist Church.
