He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Fossey and Joan Fossey (Bridgeman); his brother Neal Fossey; and his grandson Barrett Fossey. He is survived by: his wife Barbara (Mayer); his close friends, Mark Patterson and Barbara Fossey; his son Bryan (Cassie Fossey); his grandsons, Cole Monson and Tucker Fossey; his siblings, Lori Hatten (Dene Hawswirth), Lana Blaser (Jim Blaser) and Joel (Connie Fossey); his in-laws, Dee Mayer, Tom (Bev Mayer), Joyce Welch, Tony (Lori Mayer) and Mary (Paul Brown); and his sister-in-law Cindy Flugge (Russ). He is also survived by many nephews, nieces.

Gary had a love for his community from donating picnic tables, and plowing snow, to lending a helping hand wherever it was needed.
