He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Gerber and Julia Smith Gerber; and his siblings, Margaret Armstrong (Lorenz), Evangeline Landherr (Wilmer), Helen Noterman (Arnold), Frederick, Francis, Eleanor, Theresa, Rita and Paula.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine; his children, Mark Gerber (Nancy), Jeanne Steinbrink (Daryl), Ann Helgeson (Dennis), Timothy Gerber (Ellen), Allison Knight (Stephen), John Gerber (Rebecca) and Chris Gerber (Monica); and his siblings, Mary Brumm (Julius) and Roger Gerber (Mary).

Memorials can be directed to Sacred Heart, in lieu of flowers.
