With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dale Scharn (Sac City, Iowa), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 10, 2025 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Ernest and Elsbeth Scharn (Ehmann); his stepmother Ruby Scharn (Falline); his parents-in-law, Earl and Grace Ackerman; his brothers, Edward Scharn (Evelyn) and Delmar Scharn (Mary); his siblings-in-law, Shirley Moore (Norm) and Stephen Fry; his stepsiblings, Roger, Lowell Falline and Marilyn Gubbels; and his nephew Kevin Scharn.
He is survived by: his nephew Randy Scharn; his wife JoAnne Scharn (Ackerman); his daughters, Teresa Scharn (Wendell Crosser) and Tonya Lankford (Chad); his grandchildren, Reef and Abigail Lankford; his stepgrandsons, Bryan Crosser (Ashley) and Adam Crosser; his stepgreat-grandchildren, William and Elena Crosser; his stepsisters, Karen Hurd and Linda Owen (Ron); and his siblings-in-law, Janet Gilliland, Nancy Fry Dvorak (Emil) and Eulan Schuller. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home (1120 W Main St, Sac City, IA 50583). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church (215 Walnut Ave, Lytton, IA 50561).
