He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Phillips and Josephine Phillips (Schrum); his grandparents, Ben, Mary Phillips, Aden and Henrietta Schrum; his wife Frances Rodgers Phillips; his siblings, Corliss Amos (Walter), Helen Crouch (Jack), Rex and Ben; his sons-in-law, Charles Hilliard and John Allen; his brother-in-law Dick Hobbs; and his close friend Martha Roberts McCollum.
He is survived by: his children, Tom (Cindy), Mary Allen, Paula Ryan (Joel), Laurie Saunders (Guy) and Clayel (Lori); his grandchildren, Charley Phillips (Kelly), Troy Phillips (Rachel), Katherine Hilliard, Emily Gardner (Luke), Jessica Johnson (Corey), Joe Wisniewski (Sarah), Audra Saunders, Clint Saunders, Ben Phillips (Johanna) and Ashley Phillips (Lucas); the mother of his children Bobbie; his sister Linda Hobbs; and his sister-in-law Barbara Phillips. He is also survived by great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Knoxville, Iowa VFW Post 3519 at 413 S. Lincoln St., Knoxville, Iowa 50138, of which he was a lifetime member.
