He is survived by: his wife Jerrine Esther Sanford (Hunt); his mother-in-law Myrna J. Hunt of Runnells; his brothers, Roger Karnes, Dan Sanford (Wilma Jean) and Darrell Sanford of Des Moines; his daughters, Cierra Jerrine Hunt (Corey Walker) of Altoona and Lacy Ann Sanford (Jason Cox) of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Keaton Alan (Cienna Pearl Walker), Trenton Noah, Heimbaugh (Havanna) and Dayton Cox; his niece Jennifer Sanford (Kevin Johnson) of Cumming; his nephews, Daniel Alyssa (Amy Faller), Jesse Sanford of Cedar Rapids, Matt Sydnie (Jessia Beyer) and Skyler Sanford of Des Moines; and his son Brian.
