He was predeceased by: his parents, Bruce Young and Nellie Young (Johnson); his brother William Wesley Young; his parents-in-law, Melvin and Hazel Bailey (Harris); his siblings-in-law, Marlin J. Bailey, Ralph Thomas and Iona Thomas; and his nephew Robert Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Leila Bailey of Nora Springs; his children, Dana Young (Rick Theilen) of Mason City, Brad Young (Pam) of Rockford and Brenda Young of Rockford; his grandchildren, Amanda Straube (Derek) of Rudd and Nolan Young (Addie Brenny) of Waterloo; his great grandchildren, Tell, Eden and Ivy Straube; and his sister Lois Bosworth of Storm Lake. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
