He was predeceased by: his parents, James Howard Burns and Opal Marie Burns (McCloskey); and his siblings, Richard Burns and Carolyn Strong. He is survived by: his wife Wanita Burns of Rowley, IA; his children, Stephanie Haight (Jeff) of Independence, IA, David Burns (Lynn) of Winthrop, IA and Susan Schmidt (Carlyle) of Westgate, IA; and his siblings-in-law, Betty Burns and Neil Strong. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
