He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Spencer and Betty Spencer (Rubel); and his grandparents, Roy, Minnie Rubel of Laurens, Harry and Muriel Spencer of Rolfe.

He is survived by: his sister Sandra (Dean Behrendsen) of Gilmore City; his niece Amy (Bryan Laible); his great-nephews, Caden and Casey of Farmington, MN; and his niece Leah (Patrick Allen) of Iowa City. He is also survived by aunts and numerous cousins.

Dave extended his original plans to retire two extra years through the Covid-19 pandemic.
