The memory of Roger Alden Van Maanen of Rock Valley, Iowa, born in Sioux Center, Iowa, who passed away on November 8, 2024 at the age of 69, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Maanen and Grace Van Maanen (Scholten); his granddaughter Gabrielle Horstman; his siblings, Ed Van Maanen and Joy Van Maanen; his brother-in-law John Van Veldhuizen; his parents-in-law, John and Tillie Wallenburg; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Bechler Van Zee, Darlene Wallenburg, Ervin Breuer of Hull, Joe Bechler and Dick Van Zee.
He is survived by: his wife Lori Wallenburg; his daughter Kelly Esser (Brian) of Mankato; his grandchildren, Brody, Riley and Kenley; his daughter Heather Van Wyhe (Shawn) of Rock Rapids; his grandchildren, Jac, Jayme and Gavin; his daughter Robin Horstman (Dustin) of Inwood; his grandchildren, Bryn, Jordyn and Mykenah; his sisters, Marcia Van Ginkel (Gerry) of Sioux Falls, Garlene Van Veldhuizen of Doon, Glenda Horstman (Bob) of Larchwood and Julie Boyer (Frank) of Hudson; and his sisters-in-law, Audrey Van Maanen of Greely, Joyce Burggraaf (Jim) of Sioux Center and Jean Fick (Ruben) of Rock Rapids, Iowa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with some very close friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Trinity Christian Reformed Church (2020 8th St SE, Rock Valley, IA 51247). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
The family requests memorials be directed to the Parkinson's Program at Hegg Health Center Wellness in Rock Valley or the Rock Steady Boxing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
