He was predeceased by : his father John Van Hill; and his father-in-law David Wiersma. He is survived by : his wife Hilary Wiersma; his stepdaughter Amanda Wiersma; his children, Rachael Van Hill and Stephen Van Hill; his mother Joan Van Hill of Pasco, Washington; his sister Judy Larson (Jim); his niece Olivia of Pasco, Washington; and his mother-in-law Helinda Wiersma of Hull, Iowa..

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials for Rick's family may be mailed to the Hull First Christian Reformed Church, 1121 5th Street, Hull, Iowa 51239.
