He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert and Henrietta (Vlastuin); his wife Doris Elaine Van Noort; his son Danny; his wife Betty Vande Hoef; his son-in-law Dave Hoogestraat; his stepson Jason Vande Hoef; his sister Betty Jane Vande Hoef; his great grandchild Madelyn Brandt; and his brother-in-law Gerrit Koenen.
He is survived by: his children, Laura Hoogestraat (Carl Martinson) of Pierce, Michael De Bruin (Leah) of Hawarden, Darin De Bruin of Canton and Heidi Bouvette (Scott) of Luxemburg, Wisconsin; his stepchildren, Doug Vande Hoef (Bonnie) of Windom, Randy Vande Hoef of Orange City, Bob Vande Hoef (Nancy) of Sioux Falls, Barb Van Grootheest (Mark) of Long Beach, Darwin Vande Hoef (Kara) of Seal Beach and Susan Vande Hoef of Austin, Texas; his siblings, Mary Koenen, Elaine Van Roekel (Jerrold), Kathy Schelling (Marv), Jim De Bruin (Sue) and Brad De Bruin (Brenda); and his brother-in-law John Vande Hoef. He is also survived by 14 step-grandchildren; 12 great step-grandchildren.
He worked in the meat packing industry until he retired in March 2020 due to COVID-19.
