It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Joann Barbara Van Maanen of Rock Valley, Iowa, born in Hudson, South Dakota, who passed away on April 18, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Miller and Adeline Miller; and her siblings, Harvey, Hilda, Howard, Doris and Mary.
She is survived by: her children, Todd Van Maanen (Michelle) of Yankton, Jody Kallsen (Kevin) of New Braunfels, Texas and Tom Van Maanen (Peggy) of Rock Valley, Iowa.; her brother Roger Miller (Linda); and her siblings-in-law, Larry Hylarides (Nancy), Jerry Jensen and Rose Theodoredis (Bobby). She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
In the meantime, in a testament to Jo's love for the great outdoors, her family requests that memorials be directed to the Rock Valley Parks Fund, where her legacy will live on.
