He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence and Jennie; his granddaughter KatieLynn De Kam; and his father-in-law Wilbur Boer. He is survived by: his spouse Marjorie Boer; his children, Kenneth De Kam (Laura) of Belton, Clifford De Kam (Sara) of Doon, Patricia Haak (Kelly) of Rock Valley, Rodney De Kam (Twila) of Rock Valley, Sandra Breuer (Chad) of Hull, James De Kam (Alisa) of Doon, Steven De Kam (April) of Rock Valley and Maria Van Den (Alex); his sisters, Nelva Pollema (Pete) of Hull, IA, Fran Moss (Myron) of Sioux Center, IA, Judy De Noble (Marlin) of Hills, MN and Helen DeVries (Brad) of Sioux Center, IA; his mother-in-law Verna Boer of Rock Valley; his brothers-in-law, Keith Boer (Doris) of Rock Valley, IA, Les Boer (Pam) of Sioux Falls, SD and Bill B. Boer (Aletha) of Sibley, IA; and also Phil Timmer. He is also survived by one uncle and three aunts; numerous nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Rock Valley Christian School.
