It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gertrude Jane Vis of Rock Valley, Iowa, who passed away on January 13, 2025, at the age of 101, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Abraham Groot and Jennie De Groot (Koel). She is survived by: her husband Edward Vis; her children, William Vis (Betty), Janice Carrell of New Orleans, LA, Loretta Vis of Sheldon, IA, Sandra Wolthuizen (Ken) of Sheldon, IA and Gerrit Vis (Kay) of Rock Valley, IA.; her brother-in-law John Vis; her great grandchild Kane Van Bemmel; her sibling Ed's; and also, William and Hattie Vis. She is also survived by her 5 children and their spouses; 18 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Viewing was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home - Rock Valley (1704 15th St, Rock Valley, IA 51247). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Rock Valley First Christian Reformed Church (1401 16th St, Rock Valley, IA 51247).
