He was predeceased by: his parents, Weber Burgers and Jane Burgers (Van Oort); his brother Conrad; and his nephew David Miller. He is survived by: his wife Glenda Cannegieter of Rock Valley; his daughters, Rachel Langenhorst (Deric) of Larchwood, Sara Shuey (Michael Bruhn) of George and Leah Beatty (Dan) of Little Rock, Iowa; his grandchildren, Alex, Mason, Ella Langenhorst, Haylee Harthoorn (Collin), Devin Burgers, Kyle Shuey, Wyatt, Whitney, Wynona, Wyleigh Steenhoven and Cheyenne Beatty; his great grandchildren, Kolten Petersen, Madelyn, Meredith, Kennedy Harthoorn and Emma Steenhoven; his sister Wanda Burgers of Sioux Falls; and his sister-in-law LuAnn Burgers of Humboldt, Iowa. He is also survived by nieces; and a nephew.
He was a member of the Iowa Conference Committee on Higher Education and Campus Ministry, member of the Rock Valley Community School Foundation, and past member of the Rock Valley Community School Advisory Council.
