He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Jager and Rena De Jager (Siegersma); his daughter Mona Joy De Jager; his brothers, Harvey De Jager and Bernard De Jager (Martha); and his brothers-in-law, Bernard Van't Hul, Merlin Boeve and John Van Middendorp.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Van Middendorp; his daughter Leanne Kriz (Roger) of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Nick Kriz (Megan) and Stacey Kriz; his son Darwin De Jager (Carla) of Doon; his grandchildren, Angela De Boer (Andon), Joshua De Jager (Shonna) and Cody De Jager (Sarah); his son Michael De Jager (Margaret) of Doon; his grandchildren, Jesse De Jager, Lacey Ballew (Jeremy), Michaela Van Surksum (Michael) and Kasia Van Egdom; his son Herlan De Jager (Jeaneen) of Rock Valley; his grandchildren, Eric De Jager (Melissa), Alex De Jager (Ashley), Andrew De Jager (Carissa) and Emily De Jager; his son Kyle De Jager (Mindy) of Alvord; his grandchildren, Kylie De Jager, Kaden De Jager and Maddyn De Jager; his siblings, Alvina Van't Hul of Rock Valley, Lois Baatz (Roger) of Rock Rapids, Iowa and Loren De Jager (Sandy) of Hull, Iowa; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Van Middendorp of Sioux Center, Iowa and Berwin Van Middendorp of Sioux Center. He is also survived by 31 great-grandchildren.
