He was predeceased by: his parents, Jake Cannegieter and Cornelia "Cora" Cannegieter (Ver Burg); and his brothers, John and Arlen. He is survived by: his wife Rena Halma; his children, Bonnie Dekkers (Lloyd) of Hawarden, Iowa, Wesley (Helen) of Rock Valley, Marvin of San Diego, Dennis (Kathy) of Rock Valley and Steven (Shanna) of Rock Valley; and his sisters, Joan Caswell of Inwood, Lois Vande Stouwe (Gerrit) of Rock Valley, Shirley Berkenpas, Rock Valley, Karen Clark of Washington, Frieda Veldkamp, Albertha Johnson, Ann Halma, Alice Halma, Ruth Halma and Connie Halma.

Don's family prefers memorials be directed to Justice for All in Rock Valley.
