With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Van Roekel (Rock Rapids, Iowa), born in Larchwood, Iowa, who passed away on October 4, 2018 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Vries and Martha De Vries (Tilstra); her stepmother Gertrude De Vries; and her daughter Julie Kiel. She is survived by: her spouses, Arie Kiel and Abe J. Van Roekel; her children, Ardis Berkery (Kevin), Barb Arends (Glen), Char LaFrenz (Rick), Laurine Gerritsen (Don) and Russell Kiel (Vicki); her stepchildren, Myrna Van, Hul (Marvin), Hull and Audrey Hoftyzer; and her siblings, Arlene Kooistra of Hills, MN, David De Vries (Linda), Oscar De Vries (Lori), Sioux Falls and Joyce Tracy (John). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers Gert requested memorials be given to Hope Haven or the Christian Children's Fund.
