He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Aartsen and Jennie Van Aartsen (Roelofs); and his siblings, Hermina Boote (John), Bernie Van Aartsen (Tillie), Gerrit Van Aartsen, Marlys Van Aartsen and Jane Albers (Marvin).

He is survived by: his wife Ruth DeBuhr; his children, Debra Parker (Dale) of Casa Grande, AZ, Steve Van Aartsen (Patty) of Sioux Falls, SD, Randy Van Aartsen (Susan) of Pewaukee, WI, Cindy Bosch (Randy) of Rock Rapids, IA and Stan Van Aartsen (Marie); his grandchildren, Julie Fowler (James), Robyn Kranz (Cody), Lisa Rupp (Scott), Dale Parker Jr., Heather De Wit (Jaron), Michael Van Aartsen, Luke Lerdal (Sandra), Nora Oldenburg (Everett), Reva Johnson (Collin), Daniel Van Aartsen, Krista Sincere (Dylan), Joshua Van Aartsen, Nikki Thomas (Jereme), Dustin Bosch (Taylor), Amy Van Aartsen and Abby DuCharme (Ben); his brother Henry Van Aartsen; and his sister-in-law Mary Ann Van Aartsen. He is also survived by 23 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
