He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Marion Louise Willey; his wife Nelta Smidt; his children, Laura Tompkins Reitan of Whiting, Clarence Tompkins (Kim) of Whiting, Alicia Tompkins of San Diego and Bill Tompkins (Laurie) of Dyer, Tennessee; his grandson Donovan Sterling Young of San Diego, California; his stepgrandchildren, Travis Burks, Lindsey Burks and Blake Burks; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Josye of Dyer, Tennessee and Melissa Burks of Dyer, Tennessee; his siblings-in-law, Jeanie Tompkins of Lincoln and John Smidt (Lavada) of Parker, Colorado; his son-in-law Robert Reitan; his brother Stephen Tompkins; and his half-brother Clinton Olson. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
