He was predeceased by: his brother Craig; and his parents, Herman Cooper and Donna Muckey Cooper. He is survived by: his children, Tammy Danover (Randy) of Marion, Terry (Terri Lyn) of Cedar Rapids, Tad (Suzi) of Cedar Rapids and Tony (Donna) of Batavia, Illinois; his sisters, Sherill Bowers (Ronald) of Toddville, Bonnie Stolte (Steve) of Robins and Charlotte Elam of Council Bluffs; his sister-in-law Nancy Cooper of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Justin, Jeremy, Jacquelyn, Catheryn, Cole, Carli, Annee, Hallie, Bennett, Riley, Tyler and Tara; and his wife Barbara A. Berryhill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital or the Cottage Grove Foundation.
