He was predeceased by: his parents, Timothy F. Colbert and Mary Ellen Colbert (McKevitt); his wife Alice Lucille Petru; his son-in-law Tim Burns; his great grandchild Kyle Colbert Jr.; his siblings, Helen Slaughter (Raymond), Johanna Sleichter (Caroll), Richard Colbert and Timothy Francis Colbert; and his siblings-in-law, Evelyn Carpenter (Wayne), Helen Yakish (Lloyd), Betty Bell (Lester), Irene Ford (Reid) and Walter Watkinson.

He is survived by: his children, Tim Colbert (Bev) of Riverside, John Colbert (Linda) of Washington, Steve Colbert (Kathy) of Riverside, Patrick Colbert (Michele) of Dubuque, Julie Colbert of Riverside, Jean Lenz (Bryan) of West Liberty, Doug Colbert (Barb) of Riverside and Kathy Burns of Hills; his grandchildren, Clint Colbert, Kyle Colbert (Joy), Erin Leyden (Brett), Lori Long (Andy), Jill Colbert, Ben Lenz (Emily), Sarah Lenz, James Colbert and Matthew Colbert; his great grandchildren, Garret Colbert, Grant Colbert, Brock Smith, Chance Colbert, Croy Colbert, Canon Colbert, Skyler Juhl, Mason Juhl, Blake Juhl, Kenadie Long, Parker Long, Cameron Long, Conner Leyden and Colby Leyden; his sister Dorothy Watkinson of Riverside; and his brother-in-law John Petru of Lime Springs. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
