He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Olson and Martha Jane Olson (Pech); and his sister Carol Paxton. He is survived by: his wife Laura Olson of Richland, IA; his children, Michelle Lea Hayden of Waller, TX and Nicholas Alain Olson of Houston, TX; his granddaughter Skylar Clark (James Hunt Brinkley); and his siblings, Richard Olson (Betty) of San Diego, CA, Jane Graham (Kalani) of Redman, WA and Rhonda Keller (John) of Keosauqua, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
