He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Schmitt of Riceville, IA; his sons, Joe Schmitt (Nicci) of Ankeny, IA, Christopher Schmitt (Amanda Long) of Belmond, IA, Thomas Schmitt (Katie) of Elma, IA and Stephen Schmitt (Courtney) of Austin, MN; his grandchildren, Mycah, Alexis, Madelynn, Matthew, Millie, Anne, Harriet and Charlotte; and his siblings, LaVern Schmitt of Cresco, IA, Don Schmitt (Gloria) of Ft. Atkinson, IA and Darlene Bruess of West Union, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
