He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Arnold Maass and Marie Catherine (Erichsen); his wife Alma Garrels; his son Jerry Maass; his grandsons, Steven and Michael Jeneary; his siblings, Dorothy Robinson (Glen), Helen Bottjen (George), Ruth Anderson (Burton), Wayne Maass and Roy Maass; and his sisters-in-law, Edna Bucholz (Herman), Elvira Wilken (Alfred) and Faye Maass.
He is survived by: his children, Pamela Jeneary (Thomas) of Le Mars, Iowa, Brian Maass (Janell) of Iowa City and Dean Maass of Le Mars; his daughter-in-law Miyoko Maass of Saitama, Japan; his grandchildren, Dr. Greg Jeneary (Anne), Phillip Jeneary (Lindee), Julia Maass (Julio Mina), Monica Maass, Kristi and Alex Maass; his great grandchildren, Megan, Jacob Jeneary, Raegan, Carson Jeneary and Masaki Mina Maass; and his sisters-in-law, Judith Maass of Paullina and Judy Maass of Urbandale.
