He was predeceased by: his parents, Ferrel F. Wheeler and Ruth P. Edwards Wheeler; his former wife Sharon Wheeler; his daughter Kelly Wheeler; and his sister Doris Wheeler.

He is survived by: his wife Anna Mae Wheeler of Reinbeck; his daughter Kimberly Wolff (Mike); his granddaughter Brooke Ohlms (Shawn); his great grandchildren, Hailey of Missouri, Hollyn of Missouri and Hudson of Missouri; his stepchildren, Shari Wiebensohn (Bryan) of Gladbrook and Jason Walters of Reinbeck; his stepgrandchildren, Sierra and Kole Wiebensohn; and his sister-in-law Linda Smith of Ankeny.
