He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Houser and Helen "Ticky" Houser (Byers); his wife JoAnn Houser; his sister Janet Peterson; his siblings-in-law, Bud Peterson, Robert Taylor and Donna Taylor; and his close friend Marilyn Fleming.
He is survived by: his children, Julie Barclay (Curt) of Shenandoah and Kenneth Houser of Red Oak; his granddaughter Kira Barclay (Jim Straub) of Urbandale; his great grandchildren, Caroline, Miles Sisson of Urbandale, Gillian Straub of Minneapolis, Minn, Nick Straub (Anna Jansen) of Heidelberg and Mike Straub of Des Moines; and his sister Kathy Lunn (Rick) of Emerson.
A memorial fund will be established in Scoop's name.
