He was predeceased by: his parents, Reinhardt Zars and Grace Zars (Leisinger); his wife Bonnie Sue Wittenburg; his parents-in-law, Delbert and Elda Wittenburg; his brother Ron Zars; his brother-in-law Gary Buhr; and his nephew Troy Zars.
He is survived by: his children, Pam Shinstine (Dave) of Tripoli, Angie Joerger (Chris) of Readlyn and Todd Zars (Shae) of Shawnee; his grandchildren, Marissa Pech (Nathan), Nick Shinstine (Keely), Lakin Joerger, Mikenna Joerger (Bryce Kleitsch), Cannon Joerger, Keegan Zars, Evan Zars, Elle Zars and Emree Zars; his great grandchildren, Livia, Hoyt Pech, Clara and Everleigh Shinstine; his siblings, Barb Buhr of Readlyn, Sherry Tiedt (John) of Readlyn, Larry Zars (Ida) of Denver and Steve Zars (Jackie) of Bremer; and his siblings-in-law, Kathy Zars and Jerry Wittenburg (Bonnie). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
