She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Heine and Clara Heine (Kueker); her husband Ervin Fortsch; her father-in-law Harold; her siblings, Agnes Henniges (Elmer), Arlene Schweer, Ervin Heine (Norma), Alfred Heine (Carrie), Laverne Heine and Delores Lynch (Wayne); and her siblings-in-law, Arlyn Heese and Connie Heine.

She is survived by: her children, Connie Matthias (Scott) of Readlyn, Barry Fortsch (Lori) of Readlyn, Julie Leehey (Tim) of Waterloo and Bruce Fortsch (Deb) of Readlyn; her siblings, Alice Heese of Urbandale and Fritz Heine of Waverly; her sister-in-law Mildred Clark of Readlyn; and her grandchildren, Brooke Myers (Jeremy Meneuy), Bridget Destival (Aaron), McKenzie Schmitt (Travis), Miles Matthias, Adam Kaufman (Tammy), Andy Kaufman (Brook), Aaron Kaufman (Audrey), Abigail Lukins (Jacob), Alex Fortsch (Abi), Joe Leehey (Brooke), Mike Leehey (Tara), Stephanie Rewerts (Shawn Schroeder), Susan Gilbert (Josh) and Tony Mathis (Kammy). She is also survived by 40 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Readlyn or to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
