He was predeceased by: his parents, John Tiedt and Louisa Tiedt (Wolfgram); his former wife Arlene Tiedt; his wife Winifred Tiedt; his daughter Mary Ellen Stanbrough; his grandchildren, Alexander Smith and Baby Girl Finke; and his sister LaVera Averhoff.
He is survived by: his former wife Arlene Nerge; his children, Diann Finke (Les) of Naperville, Illinois, Rebecca Fette (Lyle) of Grapevine, Texas, Joel Tiedt of Waucoma, Lynnette Tiedt of Mitchellville, Lonnie Tiedt (Shannon) of Dunkerton, Lorie Smith (Bill) of Westgate, LaNae Nielsen (Barry) of Denver and Debbie Kroeze (Scott) of Denver; his son-in-law Jim Stanbrough of Dike; his siblings, Janetta Schellhorn of Oelwein, Paul Tiedt (Marrillee) of Readlyn, Violet Schuldt of Tripoli, Delores Joens (Melvin) of Dunkerton and John Tiedt (Sherry) of Readlyn; and his siblings-in-law, Arnold Averhoff (Karen) of Waterloo and Marvel Busch of Tripoli. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren with two on the way and one great-great grandchild.
Due to COVID 19 restrictions there will be a private funeral service held at 11:00 a. m. on Monday, January 11, 2021, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Readlyn with Pastor Jean Rabary officiating.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.
