He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Thomas and Ella Thomas (Baggesgaard); his wife Viola; and his siblings-in-law, Bev Thomas and Joe Lingbeck.

He is survived by: his son Mike (Sue); his grandsons, Marcus and Mason of Roland, IA; his son Brian (Renee); his grandchild Allison of Bradenton, FL; and his siblings, Mary Lingbeck of Madison, SD, Cecelia Sweeney (Tim) of Sioux Falls, SD and David Thomas of Rapid City, SD. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
