He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Amos and Mildred Amos; and his brother Harold Dean Amos. He is survived by: his wife Joanne Hukill; his children, Rodney Amos (Denise) and Kathryn Spick (Al); his grandchildren, Heather Arnold (Chad), Matt Amos (Sarah), Greg Spick (Jennifer) and Katie Koller (Brent); and his close friend Shanna. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in his name.
