It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Merlin Hughes of Preston, Iowa, born in Cascade, Iowa, who passed away on December 6, 2020, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Hughes and Mary Hughes (Picray); his sisters, Irene Claus and Charline Cavanagh; his siblings-in-law, Bill Cavanagh, Duane Kueter, Wayne Clays, Pat Cavanagh and Shirley Hughes; his stepson Dwain Morehead; his son Barry Hughes; his grandson Cale Hughes; and his brother Tom Hughes.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Morehead; his children, Lynn Hughes (Julie) of Hiawatha, Lori Skrivseth (Ritch), Jay Hughes (Sherri) of Preston and Christopher Hughes (Tracey) of Davenport; his siblings, Terese Cavanagh of Delmar, Sharon Kueterof Oxford, Linda House (Jerry) of Delmar, Tony Hughes of Cuba City and Mike Hughes (Jean) of Coralville; and his sister-in-law Aleatha Hughes of Monticello.
Masks are required for those attending and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
