He was predeceased by: his parents, Aloysius and Magdelena; his siblings, Verdis Hoffman and Ives Kilburg; and his daughters, Linda Bormann and Lori Gerardy.

He is survived by: his wife Lois; his daughter Lisa Feller (Greg) of Pekin, IL; his son-in-law Brent Bormann (Elizabeth) of Iowa City, IA; his grandchildren, Ben Feller (Christy) of Dunedin, FL, Bree Feller of Pekin, IL, Alissa Gudenkauf (Adam) of Canton, IA, Matthew Gerardy (Becky) of Preston, IA, Lance, Brooke, Garrett, Claire and Grace Bormann of Iowa City, IA; his great grandchildren, Channing Locascio of Dunedin, FL, Hoyt Gudenkauf of Canton, IA and Willow Sweet of Pekin, IL; his sister Mary Lee Kilburg; and his sister-in-law Delores Hoffman.
