She is survived by: her son Tim Van Essen of Polk City; her son-in-law David Whittlesey of Newton; her grandchildren, Jason Van Essen (Heather), Alissa Nietfeldt (Dave), Tony Bishop, Ed Whittlesey, Holly Whittlesey and Heather Whittlesey; and her sister Jean Harmison.
