She was predeceased by: her parents, Lyle Risvold and Naomi Risvold (Burgess); her former husband Erwin Ewing; her husband Jerry Kauffman; and her children, Lisa Crawford (Curtis), Jon Ewing (Amy) and Eric Ewing (Susan).
She is survived by: her stepchildren, Krystal Calderon (JD) and Shawn Kauffman (Amber); her great-grandparent Susan; her grandchildren, Chad Crawford (Tammy), Callie Morrow (Bruce), Cara Sanders (Casey), Anna Miller (Nate), James Ewing (Lily), Jacob Ewing (Hannah), Emily Ewing (John), Abby Cranell (Hunter) and Taylor Ewing; her stepgrandchildren, Olivia, Christian, Noah, Johnny, Jace and Rhett; and her siblings, David Risvold (Judy) and Martha Sheldahl (John). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens (121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313). A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Lakeside Fellowship (1121 W Bridge Rd, Polk City, IA 50226).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Kavanaugh House in Des Moines in recognition of the loving care they provided Susan during her final days.
