She was predeceased by: her parents, Louis Ricklefs and Bertha Ricklefs (Sommerfeld); her husbands, Alan D. Stearns and Nels "Bart" Benna; her grandson Lt. Jerry Schmitt; her son-in-law R. Eric Schmitt; her siblings, Lowell Ricklefs (Gloria), Erwin Ricklefs (Alice) and Vivian Zoss (Leonard); and her children-in-law, Paulette Stearns and Allan Minkler Sr..
She is survived by: her children, Pocahontas, Duane Stearns of Havelock, Kathy Schmitt of Houston, TX, David Stearns (Diane) of Lincoln, NE, Karen Minkler of Plover and Susan Bailey (Larry) of Knoxville; and her stepson Keith Benna of Ida Grove. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.
She volunteered on the American Cancer Board for 28 years and was charter president and held other offices on AAL Branch 6377 for 11 years.
