She was predeceased by: her parents, Maurice Thompson and Elizabeth Thompson (Hinze); her husband Ernest Schoon of Palmer; her brother Ray Thompson; and her grandchildren, Carrie and Ryan Beckel.
She is survived by: her children, David Schoon (Barbara) of Sweetwater, Roger Schoon (Janet) of Twin Lakes, Diane Havick (Paul) of Wickenburg and Ruth Perin (K. C.) of Apopka, Florida.; her grandchildren, Heather Epps (Matt), Angela Schoon, Tom Beckel, Kelli Gould (Will), Travis Schoon, Adam Schoon, Lindsey English (Dan), Megan Dominguez (Jay), Melissa Siress (Josh) and Evan Havick (Taylor); her great grandchildren, Reyann Epps, Gage Beckel, Kyler, Madelynn, Kinsley Siress, Zoey, Avery, Connor Schoon, Hadley, Harper, Corbet Gould, Mia and Olivia Dominquez; her sisters, Ersel Rushton of Farnhamville, Geneva Jessip of Chariton, Joyce Stringfellow of Punta Gorda and Pauline Rodgers of Fort Myers, Florida.; and her siblings-in-law, Phyllis Thompson of Des Moines and Leroy Schoon of Spirit Lake. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Powers Funeral Home (502 4th Ave NE, Pocahontas, IA 50574). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Peter Lutheran Church (600 2nd Ave SW, Pocahontas, IA 50574). A burial was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at the Summit Hill Cemetery (52010 230th Ave, Pocahontas, IA 50574).
